Transitioning to PYTHA V26: What You Need to Know

Transitioning to PYTHA V26: What You Need to Know

As you move to PYTHA V26, please read the following key points to help ensure a smooth and successful transition. This article outlines known issues, best practices for working with files, how to get updates, and how to provide feedback.

Save Your Work Wisely

When working between versions:

  1. Always start new projects in V26. Do not continue work in V26, on a project that was started in V25 or earlier.

  1. If you open a V25 project in V26, immediately save it as a new file and keep the original V25 version.

  1. Files saved in V26 cannot be reopened in V25, so keeping both versions helps protect your work. This way you can always re-open your V25 file in V25 if need be.

Dimensions

Please make sure your dimension layers are turned ON before placing any dimensions. If you assign dimensions to a layer that is turned off, PYTHA V26 will shut down.
This issue has been reported and is being worked on.

Expect Some Differences

V26 is a significant update with a new data structure, improved performance, and new features not available in earlier versions. You may notice changes in how your data behaves when opening old files.

  1. Some elements from previous versions may not work the same way—or at all—in V26.

  1. Files created directly in V26 will perform best.

  1. PYTHA will display a warning message in many instances, if saving or opening an older data set that may result in data loss or compatibility issues.

We’ll continue to provide updates on compatibility as we learn more.

Check Before You Report

Before submitting a support request, please refer to the Reported Issues article.
It includes all known V26 issues and saves you time by avoiding duplicate reports.

Change Takes Time

We understand that some changes in V26 may affect how you’re used to working.

  1. Some improvements are based on development priorities and may not always suit every workflow.

  1. Your feedback is important—but please note that major changes to functionality within a released version are unlikely to be reversed.

That said, we do want to hear what works (and what doesn’t), so please share your experience by creating a ticket and telling us about it.

If you have any questions or need help getting started with V26, please contact us via the Support Portal. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
