PYTHA - V26 New Features Log updated 29/01/2026

Hello PYTHA V26 users,

The below list outlines the currently new features currently added to PYTHA V26 reported by the PYTHA developers. 

 
New Feature or function in V26 (Newest from Top to bottom) :
  • For analyzing a crash you can now activate Crash Dump immediately in the settings

  • Enter formula for number of segments in auxiliary lines -> 3D

  • Upon request, all horizontal machining in 2nd program, not only drilling

  • The Viewer now shows the part dimensions as in the parts list

  • The Viewer now measures angles between any elements

  • Fixed point of sweep rectangle can be selected

  • Section lines/texts can be hidden per detail

  • You can search in the edge banding list

  • Cabinet generator with fillers

  • Cabinet generator now with sloped ceiling in the back

  • New action command ZOOM for graphics zoom, you have to give the increment factor per step

  • New action commands AXOZ, AXOX, AXOZX with Parameter(s) angle and number of steps

  • Dimensioning of outer angles

  • Cabinet from box and cabinet on face directly adapt to sloped ceilings

  • New cabinet generator function: Cabinet on Face fits a cabinet on a wall face

  • Setting "Only outlines": you only see outlines immediately when creating parts

  • Right mouse button on quick selection materials lets you immediately edit

  • All supported 3D formats can now be opened via dragging from the explorer

  • Workshop -> Name rule now with group position number

  • Setting Fixed dimensions prevents change of units by mistake

  • More text sizes can be adjusted in the settings

  • Headup display size can be defined separately

  • When picking edges you see the edge length as headup display

  • The pens of a parts list detail on plot sheet can be edited under "properties"

  • SHOW/HIDE/WAIT in actions

  • CAM-tools (Workshop -> Settings) can be configured differently for each machine

  • Action command START for parent group of parts and groups – not recursive

  • Actions jump to end of movement/rotation if cancelled

  • More info in the project info dialog that can be called from the hook menu

  • Concatenated actions

  • Eye to center

  • 2 Automatic camera rotations in perspective

  • Faster and better display of edge banding on laid flat parts

  • Turn off permanent mode for Sweep dialog

  • Move dimensioning text on plot sheet

  • Grid distance can now also be edited quickly with a right click in the "Grid" button

  • New camera interaction: when rotating the perspective (with Ctrl + right mouse button) you can now also zoom

  • New camera function: View to center; in vertical menu, in windows menu, and in context menu

  • If you save a pyo from plotting and later load the pyo, PYTHA immediately goes to plotting and shows the sheet last edited

  • Edit plot part selection

  • Plot part selection according to current visibility (remains permanent)

  • Surface treatment symbol on plot sheet

  • Right click on plot icon allows "plot part selection"

  • Clipped scenes as plot details

  • Setting to ignore old point light sources upon load/import

  • Project info dialog now also provides file size

  • Function explicitly only Move detail on plot sheet, the "edit" is untouched

  • As an option you can now transfer pen and line type together with a layer on the objects

  • Better management of layers and layer states

  • Leaders can be created directly or attached to texts

  • Improved 2D-Text positioning

  • Cabinet generator works in local coordinates + angle of cabinet can be picked

  • When passing auxiliary lines to 3D you don't have to press Shift any more to enter segments

  • Double click on auxiliary lines creates parallel

  • Right click and double click on curves -> more options

  • Filled symbols on the plot sheet

  • Better selection of NGOs for the parts list

  • New edge selection options via edge banding and processing

  • Edge banding materials now also have a thickness attribute

  • "Flip View direction" for sections on plot sheets instead of dragging the section line in the right place

  • New setting: Live sections on plot sheet

  • New undo setting: suppress safety check makes undo much faster

  • Sections only used for scaling in the view where they lie

  • Router path can be used for arbitrary faces

  • Improved editing of labels in plot menu

  • Auto edge banding and material palette contain all information of the edge band

  • EMF labels can use templates now

  • Group name can be used as 2D text

  • Significant warning and log file info if a filter has removed all parts

  • PYTHA now records pyo history, watch in rawdata. In private mode without user/computer name

  • Freeform pockets for GCode routing

  • Type automatic and sections made faster

  • Dimensions in sections very stable when updating

  • New setting: start in wire frame mode by default (for quickly checking a file)

  • File sizes for files with edge banding reduced drastically

  • Plot 1&1 in $ATTR now uses the properties of the part displayed

  • New setting: start without project tree by default

  • You can delete NGOs groupwise or all together

  • The edge banding list can now be filled via ".pymat" materials in the %APPDATA% folder

  • Improved face material and edge banding texture mapping

  • Edge banding can now have material

  • All dimensions on plot sheet in axo

  • All dimensions on plot sheet in plane views

  • Toggle can be toggled instead of deleted

  • All colors of the graphics customizable

  • New graphical design of points (circles instead of stars)

  • Better graphics when moving to another monitor

  • Revolve can now turn left (negative angle)

  • Grid settings now under environment-settings

  • Right click on context menu allows to remove functions individually

  • The PYHTA Materials are now added to the quick material access after the installation

  • Position 2/3 points now can snap to anything

  • Width factor of highlight edges user definable

  • 2D revolve now has a safety check when you cancel

  • Faster move and copy of parts with textures

  • Dimensions using group reference points now work quite well

  • Dimensions in sections more stable

  • You shouldn't be able to create "orphaned" group reference points any more

  • Group reference points properly move along in group actions

  • Reference points automatic for several parts (the old function is now called 1by1)

  • More intuitive UI for 2/3 point positioning

  • Materials can be hidden in the material browser via right-clicking

  • Three new UI color schemes

  • Time logging of project duration

  • Actions are displayed in the context menu properly again

  • The "Light sources +/-" option when selecting parts is remembered when restarting PYTHA

  • Default in dimension style dialog

  • Perpendicular dimension point to edge

  • Tiny change: $TIME now also allows 12h-time formats with "am" and "pm"

  • Arrow when defining my holes is clearly visible

  • Show drill depth: "d" if drill goes through

  • Right click on a plot detail can get you directly to this detail in model

  • Search in vertical menu

  • Default rotation rule is now "Longest edge" instead of "Front edge"

  • Setting to increment group names upon copy and/or drag n drop

  • Edit equals drill holes

  • Now you can even delete, freeze or unfreeze a set (even with box) of drill holes

  • Face selection can click even in wire frame model

  • New UI for straighten panels

  • Sandwich with many new features

  • Part selection can be saved as STL in 1 file

  • Info on service agreement now in about dialog

  • In load a pyo is displayed in the view used when saving

  • Start graphics can now be defined quiz free

  • In project info in the hook menu you now also find the date of 1st creation of pyo

  • New functions: Project faces and points on faces

  • Position/axis dialogs for cylinder, sphere and more can be deactivated with a check and reactivated with a right click from vertical menu

  • Import and export pen definitions

  • Divide faces now uses a new and powerful algorithm

  • New face tool: Sew in edges allows a quick and easy subdivision of faces into complex shapes

  • You now can assign a work material and turn the function off again

  • New Edge Tool: Shape allows to deform an edge with a bulge, a triangle, or a rectangle

  • Stretching points now has an optional offset

  • New geometrical shape: Superformula in the faces and edges menu

  • Plugin .lua files can now be structured in folders in the browser
